Working to meet the health and nutritional needs of women, children and families with information, education, and quality care, MFHS is currently seeking a full time Electronic Records Training Specialist to work in our Administration location.

Job Summary: 

The Electronic Records Training Specialist provides expertise and support in the education, development, and enhancement of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and practice management system utilized by the clinical practices at MFHS.  This position develops an understanding of the application functionality, reporting capabilities, interfacing and integration associated with clinical applications and collaborates with business units on their needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include but not limited to the following:

  • Serves as the material expert in navigating through the EMR system demonstrating a strong understanding of assigned and related application(s), and possessing a technical understanding of interfaces, networks, databases, and server operating systems.
  • Establishes and maintains user accounts, assigning permissions and security settings.
  • Builds templates, schedules, and basic reports to meet business needs.
  • Assists in identifying functional and training needs, and implements process and system change requests. 
  • Responsible for the initial and on-going training and education of clinical users on features, operations, workflows, and usage of the EMR through in-person and virtual trainings, and through the creation and maintenance of written process instructions for all sites and users; Reads, processes, and educates all users on updates from the EMR vendor.
  • Conducts recurring analyses and recommends innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve clinical systems; Assists in the preparation of department guidelines, SOPs, and policies related to EMR use.
  • Collaborates with departments, senior leadership, and new lines of business, and external resources on development, maintenance and delivery of accurate clinical reports and dashboards. Assists in the retrieval of data from the EMR.
  • Promote and contribute to organizational and programmatic goals.
  • Occasional travel to other MFHS locations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements/Experience:

  • 3+ years experience supporting EMR systems
  • Training experience
  • Associate Degree in related field preferred; Bachelor’s Degree is a plus.
  • PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal Background and FBI Fingerprint clearances required
  • PA drivers’ license in good standing is required and ability/willingness to travel to other MFHS offices for training and EMR assistance as needed. 
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Knowledge of EMR/ practice management software, database management
  • General understanding of healthcare practices and reproductive health services
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
