You probably already know at least one woman who has been affected by breast or cervical cancer. In fact, you might know several that have found a suspicious lump or have even battled these diseases. Breast and cervical cancer affect women from all walks of life. For many women, one of the biggest challenges in dealing with possible cancer is how they will afford the testing and treatment. This is where the Pennsylvania HealthyWoman program can help.
The HealthyWoman program provides preventative screenings and diagnostic services for breast and cervical cancer to women in Pennsylvania. Typically, those that qualify are between the ages of 40 and 65, have low to moderate incomes and do not have alternative medical insurance. Other women may be eligible depending on circumstances.
Maternal & Family Health Services works with the PA HealthyWoman program, along with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Avon Breast Health Outreach Program to educate about breast and cervical cancer, as well as to provide treatment to women who need it. Preventative care such as breast self exams and regular mammograms can save lives, so if you or someone you know is unable to afford a mammogram, please know there are options available. Call 1.877.MAMMO.4.U and we will work with you to find an option that works for you. It’s important to take an active role in your health and make the commitment to call today.
