At MFHS, we understand that mental health is just as important as physical health. Our Circle of Care in Scranton now offers in-person and telehealth Behavioral Health Counseling with a licensed social worker, providing a safe, supportive environment for individuals before, during, and after pregnancy.
Behavioral Health Services at MFHS Circle of Care
Behavioral Health Services in Scranton include:
- Access to specially trained clinical staff in areas of perinatal mental health and substance use
- Social Work support and advocacy services for pregnant and post-partum mothers and their families
- Community support and referrals for community resources
- Referrals to alternate levels of treatment/services
- Ongoing monitoring of emotional health progress


Perinatal Mental Health
Perinatal Mental Health Disorders may include postpartum PTSD, bipolar disorders, depression (PPD), anxiety (PPA), perinatal psychosis, panic disorder, and/or obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Signs may include:

- Hopeless
- Guilty
- Inadequate
- Anxious
- Emotionally disconnected
- Sadness
- Rage/irritability
- Experiencing:
- Changes in sleep and appetite
- Scary unwanted thoughts
- Lack of interest in family and friends
- Obsessing over baby’s safety
