MFHS recently hosted our annual Community Luncheon on Thursday, October 30th at The Banks in Pittston, PA. This year’s event, themed “MFHS: Champion for Women’s Health,” celebrated statewide leadership, community partnership, and the ongoing commitment to advancing women’s health across the Commonwealth.

The 2025 Outstanding Public Service Award was presented to the Pennsylvania Women’s Health Caucus, co-chaired by Senator Amanda Cappelletti, Senator Judy Schwank, Representative Mary Jo Daley and Representative Gina H. Curry. The Caucus was recognized for its leadership and advocacy in advancing legislation that promotes health equity and protects the wellbeing of women and families across the Commonwealth.

The Outstanding Public Service Award is presented annually by MFHS to a champion for women, children and families who works in public service to advocate for programs that are proven to make a positive difference, and who demonstrates exceptional leadership in advancing health equity and positive outcomes for people in the communities we serve.

The Outstanding Community Partner Award was presented to the Indigo Spoon Foundation, founded by Kim Minora, for its exceptional collaboration and commitment to improving community well-being. Through their partnership with MFHS and ongoing outreach efforts, Indigo Spoon continues to make a positive impact throughout the region through pop-up food pantries and the distribution of postpartum meal kits to new moms and families.

“The dedication and compassion of the Pennsylvania Women’s Health Caucus and the Indigo Spoon Foundation truly reflect the spirit of our mission at Maternal and Family Health Services. Their work strengthens our communities, uplifts families, and inspires us all to continue striving for a healthier, more equitable future.” said Dr. Maria Montoro Edwards, President and CEO of Maternal and Family Health Services.

Event sponsors included Building Blocks Learning Center, Highmark, Youngman, Rosenthal & Shaffer Wealth Management Group, Snyder & Clemente, Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, Mary Lou Schaefer, Posture Interactive, Janet Kobylski, Jessica Attatdo, and Debra Adams.
