2017 Rose Allan Tucker Award: Lorine Angelo Ogurkis, Esquire
At this year’s Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors & Community Luncheon, MFHS will be presenting the Rose Allan Tucker Award to Lorine Angelo Ogurkis, Esquire. Ogurkis, a native of Hazleton, has dedicated herself to giving back to her community through her tremendous work at Brandon’s Forever Home. As a founding member and President of this Hazleton-based charitable organization, Ogurkis has significantly improved the quality of life for countless children in the foster care system. She provides counseling and resources for mothers and prospective mothers within the area, and she works passionately as an advocate and educator for the foster care system in order to help children and unite families.
Lorine Angelo Ogurkis graduated in 1999 from Marywood University with her Bachelor of Science in Law. She proceeded to obtain her Juris Doctorate from Pennsylvania State University-Dickenson School of Law in 2002.Upon graduating, Ogurkis worked for over fourteen years at Double Diamond and Eagle Rock Resort as Vice President/ General Counsel. She also worked for eleven years at Eagle Rock Real Estate. Attorney Ogurkis has opened her own law practice in Conyngham which specializes in family law, adoption, real estate, and wills and estate.
Attorney Ogurkis has previously taught as an adjunct professor at Luzerne County Community College for over four years. She has served on the Board of Directors at CASA Luzerne County, Hazleton Area Public Library, Great Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, and as secretary of Hazleton Area Volunteers. Among her many positions of community leadership and assistance is the organization Attorney Ogurkis founded dedicated to the local police, called We Are Hazleton. She has also served as the Assistant Director of Hazleton POWER, as well as Chairman to the Advisory Board at Luzerne County Children & Youth Services.
Through her extensive service at both her law practice and at Brandon’s Forever Home, Ogurkis has shown her deep commitment to the betterment of individuals and families in Northeastern Pennsylvania. We are pleased to show our appreciation for Attorney Lorine Angelo Ogurkis’s altruism and positive impact on our community at this year’s Annual Meeting.
